About Us
The Presbyterian Church in
Garden City is a thriving community of hard-working, every day
Christians, both young and old. Founded in 1929, we are an old church
with renewed enthusiasm for worship and service. Lots of exciting
things are happening at our church not just on Sundays, but every day!
Here are some of the programs that make up our ongoing fellowship:
| Members and friends enjoy an
outdoor church barbecue. |
- Coffee Hour – Every Sunday following worship, join
us for coffee, refreshments, and fellowship!
- Dinner Out with Friends – On the first Sunday of
each month, members and friends are invited to go to lunch at a nearby
restaurant for fellowship and friendship.
- Thursday Ladies – All are welcome to attend for
bible study, arts, crafts, and charity projects. 10am on Thursdays.
- Presbyterian Women – On the third Thursday of each
month at noon. Activities include hosting the Fall Fair, potluck
suppers, Victorian Tea, and Spring Tea.
Club 413
The youth group at PCGC for young people in junior high and high
school. Come down every Sunday at 6pm to the youth lounge for fun,
weird games, movies, snacks, friendship, and find out what's “in”!

Music Ministry
Under the experienced direction of Carol Dort, our music ministry
enhances our worship experience. The Chancel Choir is open to all men
and women. Rehearsals take place before the Sunday service.
Occasionally, an intergenerational Bell Choir performs, as do members
with special instrumental talents.
Christian Education
Sunday School for children ages three and older begins during the
Sunday morning service, when children are dismissed to their classrooms
with their teachers. Club 413 comes out of Christian Ed., as well
as Vacation Bible School during the summer, the Christmas Pageant, and
other special programs and activities for young people scheduled
throughout the year. Adult education programs are offered throughout
the year as well, including the Lenten Bible study.

Our Pastor
Rev. Wanda Lawry Hughes ("Pastor Wanda", or even "P.W.", as she is
sometimes called) began serving as our minister on December 1, 2002.
She is always there with a smile or a hug whenever you need it, and
always willing to talk. You can contact her through the church office.
Our Denomination
We are a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA), a church in the
reformed tradition. To find out more, go to www.pcusa.org.
Our Vision Statement
Believing that through Christ all things are possible, we seek to
achieve God's eternal plan with worship in our church and witnessing in
our world, with heartfelt prayer and hands-on service, with spiritual
growth and joyful fellowship.
Our Mission Statement
We profess a strong love of God and the commitment to do God's will. We
believe we can succeed, even thrive, through the dedication of our
time, talent and resources. We pray that the size of our commitment
might equal the magnitude of our blessing and the scope of our
potential. We acknowledge that we should be careful stewards of God's
world, serving God and extending Christ's earthly ministry through our
care, concern and love for others. We seek God's grace and guidance,
that we might grow and prosper in God's service. In this way, we can
accomplish all good things in God's name, improving our discipleship
while increasing Christ's disciples.
